Canadian band Great Big Sea injected rockin’ energy into the sea shanties of their native Newfoundland for a rousing, unique sound. Today, lead singer Alan Doyle continues to mine folk tradition while crafting infectiously modern songs. Recently named a Member of the Order of Canada, Doyle is a Juno (Canada’s Grammy) Award-nominated chart-topper for his Celtic-tinged country-rock tunes. His third solo album, A Week at the Warehouse, features the singles “Summer Summer Night” and “Bully Boys,” which he wrote for the Russell Crowe film Robin Hood. (Crowe is also a frequent collaborator.) See the dynamic Alan Doyle live in concert at the Alberta Rose Theatre in Portland.
