Since their formation in Philadelphia during the summer of 2015, Tektonic has crafted a unique style of instrumental fusion dubbed “East Coast Metallic Groove Shit.” Described recently as “if Tauk and Papadosio had a baby who then heard of Meshuggah,” each member of the band carries with them a vastly different listening background to make each song increasingly diverse from its predecessor. This style was evident in their first EP, Amplitude, released in May of 2016 and recorded at Woodbrook Recording in Pennsauken. The album showed their precise and furious attention to detail, interweaving intricate synthesizer tones with dark, melodic guitar, crunching bass and hammering drums. Over the last year, the band has played numerous venues in the tri-state area including Silk City, Bourbon & Branch, 1984, The Gateway, and Underground Arts, with a stop most recently at Hemlock Groove Festival. During that time, Tektonic has collaborated and shared the stage with artists that include Consider the Source, The Magic Beans, lespecial, Teddy Midnight, Luke & Jesse Miller, Mike Greenfield, Mike Candela, and more. The band recently finished recording their sophomore EP at Spice House Sound in Fishtown, slated for release in the fall of 2017.
